FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

01

What is rush?

"Rush" is a period of time that gives you an opportunity to explore Greek life. Throughout the rush period, Kappa Phi Lambda holds a mixture of free events where we try to give you a bigger picture of who we are, what we strive for, and how we impact the community. Rush is also a time for you to meet the sxsters, get to know them, and vice versa. Come out, be yourself, have some fun along the way and see if Kappa Phi Lambda is right for you!

02

Why Kappa Phi Lambda?

Being a part of a club and joining a sorority is different; we are founded on the idea of sxsterhood. Kappa Phi Lambda is composed of strong women committed to sisterhood, service, and cultural diversity. We strive to create leaders and role models out of young women while giving back to the community and spreading cultural awareness. Although each sxster is different and unique in their own way, we are brought together by our vision for the future, and in the process, create indescribable, lifelong friendships at NC State and throughout the nation. As one of the fastest growing organizations of its kind, be a part of the foundation and make a deep-rooted impact that will be seen for the many years to come.

03

Are there any requirements? Do you need to be Asian?

In order to be eligible to be a part of the New Member Process, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at NC State. You do NOT have to be Asian. We have many nationalities represented within Kappa Phi Lambda, and as a cultural sorority, we encourage diversity. In order to receive a bid, you must attend a General Interest Meeting and two other events during the rush period.

04

What is a bid? How do I get one?

At the end of the rush period, there is an interview process. This is our final opportunity to get to know you better before we consider you for a bid. It also allows us to see how you conduct yourself in a business-professional setting. Interviews are usually twenty minutes long, or less, and are conducted with multiple sxsters in the room. To be considered for a bid, you must fulfill attendance for the required rush events, fill out an application, and have an interview. If you receive and accept your bid, you will take the next step into the Potential New Member process for Kappa Phi Lambda.

05

What is the Potential New Member (PNM) process?

Shortly after accepting your bid, you will start your journey towards sisterhood through the Potential New Member (PNM) process. The PNM process is a learning process and challenging in its own way. It is a period of time for you to learn more about yourself, the sxsters, your line sxsters, and the sorority as a whole. Not only is it a chance for you to show sisters what you are capable of, but it is also an opportunity to prove something to yourself. We want every sxster's crossing into eternal sisterhood to be something that is earned, deserved, and remembered forever. Kappa Phi Lambda stresses a POSITIVE PNM process and has a strict NO HAZING policy. We would never put you in an embarrassing or harmful situation.
